InterviewMan vs. Interview Hammer

Last updated: April 17, 2025|4 min read|By InterviewMan Team

ok so the dumbest thing i almost did was let my friend Ryan talk me into switching to Interview Hammer the night before his fintech loop because he kept going "it is a dollar cheaper per month bro just switch already" and i was sitting there at his kitchen table with both apps pulled up thinking maybe he had a point. twenty nine ninety nine versus thirty bucks monthly, sure, basically the same. then i checked the annual pricing. InterviewMan comes out to twelve dollars a month on annual, one forty four for the year. Interview Hammer does not have an annual plan. no quarterly either. thirty bucks a month forever. three sixty a year. three sixty. i wrote both numbers on his whiteboard and Ryan just stared at it and goes "oh." that was it for the price conversation lol

Ryan downloaded Interview Hammer from the App Store anyway because he is stubborn like that. it is a mobile app from ZipoApps, transcribes your Zoom or Teams or Meet calls and throws suggested answers at you. sounds fine until you realize that is literally all it does. i sat there scrolling through their App Store listing and product page for like twenty minutes looking for any mention of HackerRank or CoderPad or Codility or system design. nothing. Ryan's fintech loop had four rounds, behavioral, technical, coding on HackerRank, and system design. Interview Hammer covers maybe two of those and the other two he is sitting there with nothing and he still paid thirty bucks for the privilege lol. i pulled up InterviewMan right next to him on my laptop and ran mocks for all four types, the suggestions tracked what was on screen not just audio. fifty seven thousand users and 4.8 stars from 257 reviews, those numbers do not come from people only using it for behavioral screens

the stealth part is what really got to us though. Ryan was scrolling through Interview Hammer reviews and one person described the app freezing multiple times during a Teams call with slow question recognition. i looked at Ryan and he looked at me and neither of us said anything for a second because that is exactly how you get caught during a live interview. their listing says "undetectable mode" but never explains what that means at the system level. does it hide from screen recordings? block process scans? WebRTC leaks? nobody knows because they do not say. fourteen ratings backing up a 4.1 star score so there is almost nothing to go on. i had already done the paranoid detective thing with InterviewMan a few weeks earlier, recorded a screen shared Zoom call with myself, opened the dock, checked Activity Monitor, scrubbed the recording frame by frame, found zero traces. Ryan watched me do the whole thing again at his place just to prove it and he sat there going through the recording with me for like ten minutes and we could not find it. twenty something hiding methods and fifty seven thousand sessions and nobody has reported a confirmed detection

Ryan also had a company that used Chime for video and Codility for coding. Interview Hammer covers iOS Android Windows macOS but only works with Zoom Meet and Teams. no browser extension, no assessment platforms, no Chime, no Webex. he would have walked into that interview with a tool that covered literally neither of those. InterviewMan runs on Windows macOS Android iOS Chrome, connects to Zoom Teams Meet Chime Webex Lark plus HackerRank CoderPad Codility. i told Ryan "this is why checking the platform list matters before you pay for anything" and he nodded but i could tell he was annoyed at himself for almost spending three hundred and sixty dollars a year on something that would not have worked for half his interviews lol

Ryan went with InterviewMan. twelve bucks a month with everything included versus thirty bucks a month for audio transcription and a stealth toggle that nobody can explain. ran it through all four rounds, got the offer. he texted me after with "i owe you two hundred and sixteen dollars" which i think was his way of saying thanks because that is the difference between three sixty and one forty four over a year. i screenshot that and sent it to our group chat lol
